What We Do

Our teamOur guests (the street homeless) are referred to us by Croydon Reach, a part of Thames Reach, a government funded organisation helping homeless people in London to get hostel accommodation, benefits, health care, training and employment.

The churches offer their guests an evening meal, a bed for the night, breakfast in the morning and a packed lunch to take with them when they leave after breakfast. Some churches are able to offer shower facilities. In addition, our volunteers offer valuable companionship in a warm, safe and caring environment.

getting beds readyEach church has a rota of volunteers who make up the beds, provide food, cook and serve the evening meal, wash up, prepare the packed lunches, stay overnight, make breakfast, clear everything away and take laundry home to wash ready for the following week.

In addition, St Mildred’s in Bingham Road runs a Sunday afternoon drop-in centre all year round (except during August), offering hot drinks, snacks, clothing and showers for the homeless and those who have recently moved into accommodation. On Thursday evenings throughout the year The Link at East Croydon United Reform Church offers a drop-in, refreshments and companionship to the homeless and recently accommodated. We are always grateful for new volunteers - you don’t have to be a member of any church – and if you feel you would like to help in any way, please contact us on 07752 272481
